Scheduled for 39 laps, the Miami E-Prix ultimately ran for 41 due to a safety car start. The wet track conditions forced race control to err on the side of caution, but after four laps behind the safety car, the race was nevertheless restarted from a standing start. The field generally behaved throughout the race, with the exception of a collision between Felipe Drugovich (Andretti) and António Félix da Costa (Jaguar).

The two men were part of a leading group that steadily grew throughout the E-Prix. On a Miami circuit where a pack race seemed inevitable, the conditions allowed three drivers to break away initially, Drugovich followed by Nyck de Vries (Mahindra) and pole sitter Nico Müller (Porsche). It was the Swiss driver who led the most laps during this third round of the season, but he ultimately had to settle for second place.

Mitch Evans used the first half of the race to close the gap to the leading group before launching his attack in the final laps. A perfectly timed Attack Mode activation allowed him to win by more than three seconds over Nico Müller and nearly nine seconds over the second Porsche, driven by Pascal Wehrlein. The wet conditions at the start of the race also allowed the drivers to push harder towards the end, as they were able to conserve their electrical energy.

Victorious in Mexico City thanks to Nick Cassidy, the Citroëns had a much less successful race on Saturday, with Jean-Éric Vergne finishing fifteenth, just ahead of his New Zealand teammate. Once again plagued by mechanical problems, Dan Ticktum was the only driver forced to retire from this round.

Nick Cassidy retains his championship lead, but he now only has a two-point advantage over Nico Müller, and three over Jake Dennis (Andretti), who scored the point for tenth place in his team's home race. Season 12 of Formula E continues on February 13 and 14 at the Jeddah circuit in Saudi Arabia.
