Already seen in the team's environment earlier in the season and driver Peugeot en WEC, Theo Pourchaire will make his return under the colors of the double chevron brand after a first experience deemed convincing during the rookie session organized alongside the Miami E-Prix in February. The champion of Formula 2 in 2023 had then been able to discover the car GEN3 Evo and distinguish itself by its speed as well as by the quality of its technical feedback to engineers.

This performance convinced Citroën Racing to offer him a new opportunity to continue the work he had begun. Pourchaire will thus be able to deepen his understanding of the specificities of Formula E, particularly in terms of energy management and tire performance, two essential aspects of the electric racing series.

Alongside him, Joshua Dürksen will be discovering the team for the first time. The Paraguayan driver, considered one of the rising stars of junior formulas, will benefit in Madrid from his first experience behind the wheel of a Formula E car as part of the rookie program.

These official sessions are a key moment for the championship teams. They not only allow them to test new talent, but also to continue the technical development of the GEN3 Evo single-seater during the season. For Citroën Racing, the arrival of Joshua Dürksen perfectly illustrates the objective of these tests: to offer a platform to emerging drivers while gathering valuable data.

F1 2026 Promo Guide

« We are very happy to welcome Théo back to the team after the excellent work he did during the test session in Miami at the start of the season. explains Cyril Blais, Team Principal of Citroën Racing in Formula E. He quickly integrated with the engineers, provided very clear technical feedback, and demonstrated a very good pace. Bringing him back to continue this collaboration was therefore a natural decision for us. »

The French official also welcomed the arrival of Joshua Dürksen. He's a driver we've been following closely, and this type of Rookie Test is specifically designed to give young talents the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in the Formula E environment. It will be a valuable experience for both him and the team as we continue our development program around the GEN3 Evo. »

For Théo Pourchaire, this return represents an opportunity to continue his learning in a championship whose technical specificities differ significantly from other single-seater disciplines. The experience in Miami was extremely positive for me. Driving the GEN3 Evo for the first time and working with the team allowed me to understand how different Formula E is from other championships., underlines the Frenchman. In Madrid, the goal will be to continue this momentum, to help the engineers in the development program and to further improve my understanding of the car and energy management. »

Joshua Dürksen, for his part, sees this day as a first immersion into the world of electric motorsports. Formula E is a completely new championship for me, so having the opportunity to drive the GEN3 Evo and work with such an experienced team is a fantastic chance. explains the Paraguayan. I will try to learn as much as possible about the car, the systems and how a Formula E team works. It is a very different challenge from other single-seater championships, particularly due to energy management and the technical aspects. »

The Madrid Rookie Test will allow Citroën Racing to continue its work on the GEN3 Evo while closely observing two promising young drivers in international motorsport. For both Pourchaire and Dürksen, the challenge will be to fully capitalize on this opportunity to demonstrate their potential in the demanding environment of Formula E.
