- On pole for the second time this weekend, Oliver Rowland (Nissan) made a good start, holding off his pursuers. The championship leader eventually relinquished first place to Dan Ticktum (Cupra), who benefited from attack mode. With an offbeat strategy, the Nissan driver then lost several places in a row with Taylor Barnard's overtaking moves (McLaren) and Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche). Second in the championship, Antonio Félix da Costa (Porsche) was forced to retire after contact after only a dozen laps, while his German teammate took the lead of the race.
- Rowland's offbeat strategy would pay off late in the race. Taking advantage of a longer second attack mode than Wehrlein's, the Briton took the opportunity to overtake the reigning champion with a superb maneuver along the wall, allowing him to cruise to a fourth victory of the season. With this latest victory, the Barnsley native further extended his championship lead.
- In the fight for the podium, Taylor Barnard ended his race in the wall and triggered a Safety Car with three laps to go. The race was restarted for the final lap, but Rowland resisted Wehrlein's pressure all the way to the finish line. Dan Ticktum completed the podium ahead of Jake Dennis (Andretti).
- On the French side, Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Penske) finished sixth, Norman Nato (Nissan) 17th.
