Shwartzman fastest in Rookie Test in Berlin

Robert Shwartzman, Ferrari Hypercar driver in the WEC, set the best time in the Formula E Rookie Test in Berlin for DS Penske. The Israeli beat Jak Crawford (Andretti) and Sheldon van der Linde (Jaguar).

Robert Shwartzman definitely likes to stand out during the Rookie Tests in which he participates. After that of WEC in Bahrain last November where he set the best time at the wheel of the Ferrari 499P, the Israeli pilot signed the reference time of that of the Formula E in Berlin which took place on Monday, the day after the victory of Antonio Félix da Costa (Porsche) has on the German route.

Shwartzman (24) set his best lap in 1:01.937. He beat Jak Crawford (Andretti) by just under two tenths (0.173) and Sheldon van der Linde (Jaguar) by 0.230 seconds. Behind the podium, Felipe Drugovich (Maserati), Kush Maini (Mahindra), Enzo Fittipaldi (Jaguar) and Frederik Vesti (Mahindra) completed a top 7 in three tenths. Member of theAlpine Academy, Gabriele Mini (Nissan) finished in the top ten (9th), just behind the championship leader of Formula 2, Zane Maloney (Andretti). Reigning champion of DTM and also driving the Porsche 963 in Bahrain at the end of last year, Thomas Preining (Porsche) took 11th place, sandwiched between Caio Collet (Nissan, 10th) and Dennis Hauger (Porsche, 12th).

Two women were present during this Formula E Rookie Test. Champion of the F1 Academy and FRECA starter with the Iron Dames, Marta Garcia (ERT), set the 19th time out of the 22 drivers entered, less than three tenths behind her teammate and compatriot Mikel Azcona (18th). Alice Powell (Envision) ended the day in 22nd and last position, two tenths behind her teammate Dries Vanthoor (21st). New protégé of Stellantis, the Chilean Nicolas Pino (Maserati) set the 20th time.
