Opel GSE Formula E Team has secured its first signing. The German manufacturer has officially announced the arrival of Sophia Floersch as a test and development driver, marking a key step in structuring its program in the World Championship. Formula EAged 25, the German will be responsible for intensive work in the simulator and during testing, as the brand prepares to make its debut in the GEN4 era of the 100% electric discipline.

First outing coming up at Castellet
Sophia Floersch will make her first official appearance in her new colors on April 21st and 22nd, at the presentation of the GEN4 single-seaters at Le Castellet. She will be driving the new Opel at this highly anticipated event, which will mark a turning point for the sport.
Already involved from the outset, the German driver began her work in the simulator and explored the manufacturer's facilities in Rüsselsheim. She will be immediately integrated into the development program and will also participate in the scheduled rookie sessions. Floersch also becomes a brand ambassador.
Revealed very early in kartingSophia Floersch made her mark as early as 2015 by becoming the youngest winner of the British Ginetta Junior Championship. She then climbed the ranks of the car, passing through the ADAC F4, the Formula 3 European and then FIA F3. His last appearance in single-seaters was a brief participation in the Indy NXT in 2025 (only one race contested).
Floersch also switched to Endurance, becoming the first woman to achieve a podium finish in European Le Mans at the 2021 Algarve 4 Hours with the local team Algarve Pro Racing. She also finished second in the 2022 Castellet 4 Hours with the same team. The Grünwald native also competed in a season of WEC in the LMP2 category with the Richard Mille Racing Team in 2021. She has three participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the tally, as well as a season in DTM, still in 2021.

With this signing, Opel lays the foundations for its Formula E project. Now it remains to transform this first recruitment into sporting momentum, at the dawn of a new technological era for the discipline.
