FR 3.5: Le Mans in English time

The British Formula Renault 3.5 Series drivers set their sights on Le Mans qualifying. Jon Lancaster is ahead of James Walker and Oliver Turvey.

Jaime Alguersuari, announced at Toro Rosso for the next Hungarian Grand Prix, was expected. The Spanish Carlin Motorsport driver assumed his new status, setting the best time in the morning (1:26:056) in Group B of qualifying, ahead of Sten Pentus and James Walker. In group A, Jon Lancaster was almost as fast (1:25:147), ahead of Miguel Molina and Charles Pic.

During the SuperPole, the six best drivers from each of the two groups meet for the final explanation. At the start of the session, it was Oliver Turvey who was the fastest, before being robbed of the best time by Edoardo Mortara. The GP2 driver, enlisted by Tech 1 Racing to replace Brendon Hartley, who runs at Zandvoort in F3 Euro Series this weekend, take advantage of his experience to try to conquer pole. But Oliver Turvey, then James Walker and Bertrand Baguette took over. It was ultimately Jon Lancaster who took this coveted position, ranking ahead of his compatriots Walker and Turvey. Not far from there, Charles Pic, fourth, confirms Tech 1's return to the forefront, while Jaime Alguersuari finishes in fifth position.
