Once again, the group scheduled to start the latest was the fastest on Sunday morning. Yesterday, Matteo De Palo (Trident) took advantage of the track's development to grab the first pole position of the weekend in a slightly faster Group B. Today, it was Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP), fastest in Group A thanks to a time of 1:37.296, who will start the second FRECA race at the Hungaroring in first place. With a lead of almost half a second over Rashid Al Dhaheri (Prema), fastest in Group B, the Frenchman left little doubt as to the hierarchy in place.
Just a tenth and a half behind the Frenchman, Freddie Slater (Prema) once again set a competitive pace on this new track. Already very effective at Zandvoort, capable of winning the first race before climbing onto the podium, the Briton, championship leader before De Palo's victory, certainly intends to improve on his fifth place yesterday. Third on the grid, he will be in direct competition with Matteo De Palo, the new leader in the general classification, and fourth at the start today.
The French are withdrawing
Still fifth in the drivers' standings at this stage of the season, Evan Giltaire will have a tough task ahead of him to keep up with the championship. Tenth on Sunday's grid after setting the fifth fastest time in his group, the ART GP driver saw the sixth-placed rider, Japanese Hiyu Yamakoshi, start from 12th place. Asked to look ahead, the Frenchman wearing the number 95 will face a challenge of patience and construction in the race.
Driving under a French license, Taito Kato (ART GP) will start from 13th place while Dorian Pin (Prema) will return to its 20th place, the same place it finished Saturday's race in despite being 17th on the grid. The race will get underway at 15:40 p.m. (French time), providing a clearer picture of the standings, which are once again very uncertain. Will provisional leader Matteo De Palo be able to resist the pace of Enzo Deligny and Freddie Slater?
