It's now official: the French champion will defend the FFSA championship colors throughout Europe. This Saturday, March 21st, ART Grand Prix announced the addition of Alexandre Munoz to its team for the 2026 Formula Regional European season. A well-deserved reward for the driver who clinched the title in the final round of the season, ahead of Arthur Dorison and Jules Roussel. Capable of winning five times in 2025, his second season in the category, the Ariège native will now face a completely different challenge. He will team up with Indonesian driver Kabir Anurag (supported by Alpine) and the Monegasque Mattéo Giaccardi.
Postponed by Freddie Slater with Prema in 2025, and also by Rafael Câmara with Trident in 2024, the European championship is generally the best gateway to international FIA championships, starting with the F3Before that, Alexandre Munoz will have to prove himself. Having completed two tests during the winter – one at Spa-Francorchamps as part of collective testing prior to the Macau Grand Prix, and the other at Le Castellet – the French champion was the fastest of the ART drivers each time. Close to the Prema benchmarks, starting with Kean Nakamura-Berta, Alexandre Munoz notably managed to outperform the Japanese driver in wet conditions, without any prior testing compared to his counterpart's run.
While the first weekend of the official season is scheduled for April 24-26 in Spielberg, Austria, the biggest challenge for the French driver will be getting to grips with the new Tatuus T-326. Indeed, despite its speed in testing, the car used during those tests was none other than the previous version of the Tatuus used in FRECA until 2025. Used notably in FRMET (Formula Regional Middle East), this car It could be tested by those who managed to secure their place on the grid. For Alexandre Munoz, this year as throughout his career, adaptation will need to be rapid, in order to create a surprise at what is already a pivotal moment in his young career.
