Hello Alexandre, you were in Dijon last weekend to coach Lilian Soares, is that right?
Lilian has made great progress! He already put in a strong performance at Nogaro, scoring a lot of points in his first Formula 4 weekend. I think he impressed us all in qualifying, finishing second! He still needs to improve in the race, but he's always in contention for podium finishes. He's learning a lot. I'm personally helping him develop, but he's certainly showing a good ability to adapt.
What conclusions do you draw from your first weekend in Spielberg, in FREC?
There were good and bad moments. The hardest thing to achieve in a race car is pace and performance. On that front, we showed as a team that we were there. We notably finished third in our qualifying group on the final day and sixth overall. But there were mistakes. I stalled at the start of the reverse grid when I was starting third. Starting sixth in the first race of the weekend, I came out of the first corner eleventh. That didn't help.
Can you explain this relative underperformance in Austria?
We need to work on all of this because it's a shame to get good qualifying results and a good grid position only to lose all those points in the end. This week it's Zandvoort. We'll focus on having a good level of performance and minimizing the damage at the start before doing our best on the track.
You are now part of the French team, can you tell us about it?
It's a huge source of pride. When I was younger, I used to watch the French national team members compete; they're all top-level drivers. I'm really happy to be able to represent France, especially in our categories internationally. It gives us a real boost in terms of visibility. In Dijon, we all got together, and the team spirit really came through. It's all positive!
What will be the key to this weekend in Zandvoort?
For Zandvoort, the key will really be to avoid mistakes. It's a very technical track. The goal will be to get a good qualifying position because it's always difficult to overtake there. We'll try to get good starts, without stalling this time, to score some valuable championship points.
