Next year, FRECA will give way to FREC, and will see above all Alpine leave room for the FIA regarding the organization of this championship located between national F4 and F3On a more global scale, the International Automobile Federation probably wishes to give more importance to these continental championships, and thus place the different Regional Formulas in a separate order within the pyramid of car.
So, among the important points to note in view of 2026, the new single-seater used by all Regional Formulas around the world was unveiled this Friday at Monza. In this case, the Tatuus T-326 – built on the basis of the regulations defined by the FIA – appeared on the Italian track alongside the FRECA final.
The new-generation chassis features reinforced structures and modernized components, such as redesigned front and rear crash boxes, anti-intrusion panels, and a revised rollover protection system. The cockpit, meanwhile, has been optimized to provide a comfortable riding position suitable for all riders, regardless of their size.

In terms of track performance, the car will also benefit from increased downforce and reduced wake effect, improving overtaking capabilities and the quality of racing on the track. Combined with a new ATM163T three-cylinder engine, developed by Autotecnica Motori and derived from the Toyota G16E, the FREC 2026 will have the ambition to run the most advanced version at this level of the single-seater pyramid.

“The new Regional Formula achieves all the objectives that we had set for this level of single-seater competition, welcomed the president of the FIA Single-Seater Committee, Emanuele Pirro. Thanks to new aerodynamics and longer-life tires, the car will be more competitive in the race, while being faster and safer. This is an exceptional performance, the result of the work of the FIA. I would also like to thank the ACI and Tatuus for their commitment to this new phase of the European Championship.
Given that no pit stops are required in FRECA, the race's appearance can sometimes turn into a procession of thirty single-seaters on the track, or become a real game of attack between the drivers this year again. Starting next year, the promise aims to make the overall course of the events more attractive, while the demand from young national hopefuls for the international circuit only increases over the years. However, this formative level of single-seater racing has notably seen the emergence of profiles such as Isack Hadjar, Kimi Antonelli, or more recently, the 2025 F3 champion, Rafael Câmara.
