To secure pole position for the Macau Grand Prix, setting the fastest overall time across all qualifying sessions is sufficient. And right up until the final moments of Q2, the provisional best time set the previous day by Freddie Slater (2:15.708) still stood! Playing a leading role throughout Friday, Théophile Naël managed to pick up the pace, setting a new benchmark of 2:15.609. With a lead of more than two tenths over Freddie Slater, the Frenchman, competing in Formula 3 Since the beginning of the year, he will therefore be on the front line alongside the Briton.

The true achievement of this qualifying session lies in the performance of all the French drivers competing in this Macau Grand Prix. Besides Théophile Naël's pole position, the third, fourth, and fifth starting positions were all secured by French drivers. Specifically, Evan Giltaire, Taito Kato, and Enzo Deligny all outperformed Mattia Colnaghi (Eurocup-3 champion) and Mari Boya (3rd in Formula 3), among others.

As in Formula 4, the drivers unfortunately had to endure several session interruptions, which proved costly for the leaders. While Théophile Naël and Freddie Slater were both improving, Charlie Wurz crashed into the wall at Maternity Bend, bringing out the third red flag of the session. Before the Austrian, Mexican José Grafias and Pole Tymek Kucharczyk had already made mistakes, resulting in the cancellation of their personal best times.

The qualifying race, now crucial to determining the starting grid order for the 2025 Macau Grand Prix, will be held at 9:15 a.m. (French time) this Saturday.
