Alex Palou, the anonymous champion at home in Spain

Winning the Indianapolis 500 for the first time in his career, Alex Palou became the first Spanish driver to achieve this feat in 109 editions. However, the three-time IndyCar champion believes this success will not have as much impact as it did in a country so devoted to the cause of football, Fernando Alonso, and Carlos Sainz.

He has been, since 2021 and his first champion title in IndyCar, the one who most regularly carries the colors of Spain to the top in motorsport: three titles in the American single-seater series, and a victory at the Indy 500, a first for a Spaniard in Indiana.
