In a country absolutely crazy about football, and the exploits of Fernando Alonso et Carlos Sainz, the feat of Álex Palou, winner of the Indy 500 and four-time champion IndyCarIt didn't go unnoticed, but almost. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver was still able to capitalize on his victory and return to his home country as a star last week.

Sponsored by the delivery company DHL, Palou visited his sponsor's Catalan headquarters, which had also played a role in organizing the media tour. In fact, it was via a plane chartered by DHL that the Indy 500 trophy was able to cross the Atlantic.

After attending the AS Sport gala in Madrid and visiting DHL, Palou was able to attend the La Liga match between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid (a 3-1 victory for Atlético). blaugranas) while presenting a personalized helmet to the president of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta.

This was followed by several days of interviews and videos in some of Spain's most important media outlets. All this to try and rekindle the passion for IndyCar in the land of Cervantes, a country that swears by the exploits of Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz. F1, and its many pilots of MotoGP.

"It's really special to bring the Borg-Warner Trophy back to Spain for the first time.", said Palou. “It’s fantastic that we achieved this feat and that I can celebrate it with the cities, the country, all the fans, my family, by going to exceptional places where I’ll take incredible photos that I’ll cherish forever. It’s extremely rewarding. It’s very motivating for the future to try and repeat this achievement, to have other opportunities like this, and to bring this trophy back here more often.”

Last May, after his victory in Indianapolis, Palou expressed his concern about the holding of such a tour and the interest that the Iberian media might show him; he must now be reassured!
