Definitely, Palou, triple champion IndyCar, doesn't want to leave any crumbs for his rivals! In Indianapolis, it was the Spaniard from Chip Ganassi Racing who was the fastest during the qualifying session, as he seeks a fourth victory in five races this season. In his final attempt, the driver of the No. 10 Dallara-Honda simply placed himself four tenths above the fray.
« We had a bit of an advantage with our new set of soft tyres.", said Palou. “I think some people used them in Q1, which wasn't the case for us. Perhaps this is where the time advantage came from. But the car was amazing. Super fast. She's been super fast all season, honestly, but today she was on fire."
Rahal Letterman Lanigan in great shape
Enough to give his rivals cold sweats, who have been racking their brains since March to figure out how to beat the Spanish driver! Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) will start alongside him on the front row. As every year, the RLL team has a very competitive package on the Indianapolis road course, as also proven by the excellent third position on the grid of rookie Louis Foster. The reigning Indy NXT champion has a real chance of pulling away in the fight for the rookie of the year title against Robert Shwartzman. The Tel Aviv native will start from last position after experiencing problems at the start of free practice on his Prema.
Fifth behind Scott McLaughlin (Team Penske), Devlin DeFrancesco allowed Bobby Rahal to place all three of his cars in the top six! These were great performances that the team should take advantage of, as historically the 6 Miles have been more difficult on the oval track in recent years for RLL… Josef Newgarden (Team Penske) was the last member of Q500 and will therefore start sixth.
Christian Lundgaard (Arrow McLaren), second in the championship, was unable to escape from Q1! He will therefore start fourteenth, alongside Colton Herta (Andretti), who was also trapped in the first phase. The fifth round of the 2025 IndyCar championship will begin at around 22:45 p.m. this Saturday, this time with two sets of hard tires and two sets of soft tires to use, with at least three refueling stops to be made.
