Starting from the third row, Álex Palou finished on the podium in Portland, giving him his third consecutive title, and his fourth in five seasons aboard the #10 Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara-Honda. The Spaniard once again showed his strategic skills to close in on the two leaders in the final laps of the race, while he was more than 15 seconds behind in the first stints of the race.
As at Thermal earlier in the year, the Spaniard offered us a superb battle with Christian Lundgaard (Arrow McLaren) in the final laps of the race, even ending up on the grass after a daring attempt from the outside. This time, however, the two drivers were battling to see who would finish second, behind Will Power (Team Penske).
The Australian claimed his first victory in a year, on the same circuit where he won his last victory. A form of redemption for Power and Team Penske, which has had a particularly difficult season since the beginning of the year. And a headache ahead for "Captain" Roger Penske, who has still not signed the Australian for a new season...
Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) and Alexander Rossi (ECR) delivered excellent results with top-five finishes, ahead of Callum Ilott (Prema). The race was marked by Conor Daly's (Juncos Hollinger Racing) impressive crash on lap 5. The American was tangled up with Christian Rasmussen (ECR) after two particularly heated laps between the two men. Daly was not injured in the crash, but he reiterated on television and social media that the Dane's maneuver was far from regular.
Aiming for a top 10 finish, Josef Newgarden (Team Penske) was spun late in the race by Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), and the two-time champion's disastrous season continued, finishing 24th. The only man who could have prevented Palou from winning the race early on, Pato O'Ward suffered electrical problems on lap 21, which caused him to fall down the order and made the outcome inevitable, with Álex Palou winning his fourth title in five years.

Well done Palou but not Lundgaard for his second "grassy" defense!!!
