As is often the case at the Indy 500, Arrow McLaren Formula 1 has unveiled special liveries for the 2026 edition of the race, all based on the same predominantly white design. The colors of each car's main sponsors (black for Pato O'Ward, blue for Nolan Siegel, orange for Christian Lundgaard, and purple for Ryan Hunter-Reay) will allow drivers to distinguish the cars during May, which begins with the first free practice sessions this Tuesday.
Arrow McLaren is placing these liveries at the heart of its new "Unfinished Business" campaign. The Woking-based team is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Johnny Rutherford's Indy 500 victory this year, driving an Offenhauser-powered McLaren M16. "Lone Star Jr." secured his second Indy 500 win, and triumphed in the shortest edition in the race's history, as it was stopped by rain after 102 of the scheduled 200 laps.
For Zak Brown's team, this represents their last victory to date in the world's greatest single-seater race. McLaren has returned to IndyCar in 2017 through a partnership with Andretti Autosport and Fernando Alonso, and has been attempting to qualify for the race annually since 2019. Pato O'Ward has finished second in the Indy 500 twice, in 2022 and 2024.
“We have a score to settle at the Indy 500. The new liveries and our campaign reflect our determination and passion to reach the top in the world’s greatest race. I can’t wait to see these cars on the track as we continue to give it our all to secure that long-awaited victory at the Speedway.”
