Álex Palou is unstoppable in qualifying these past few weeks! Undefeated in qualifying since the Indianapolis Grand Prix, the four-time champion IndyCar secured his fourth consecutive pole position, this time on the Gateway oval. The championship leader and winner of the previous round on the streets of Detroit set the fastest combined time over the two laps, three-tenths of a second ahead of David Malukas (Team Penske).
Still in good form this season, Kyle Kirkwood (Andretti Global) will start from third position ahead of Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist (Meyer Shank Racing). Despite going off the track in the first free practice session on Saturday, Rinus VeeKay (Juncos Hollinger Racing) was able to participate in qualifying, finishing with the 13th fastest time. Romain Grosjean and Dennis Hauger, the two teammates of Dale Coyne Racing, did not achieve a good result in qualifying, with both drivers starting from 23rd and 24th positions respectively.
The event will take place on Sunday night/Monday morning, with a scheduled start at 3:25 am Paris time.
