Indy NXT: the new haven for young drivers?

After years of lean times, the feeder series to IndyCar is once again boasting full grids. Among the drivers eager to try their hand at American-style racing, young guns from European junior formulas are plentiful, attracted by stable budgets and more opportunities.

When Roger Penske bought theIndyCar And with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at the end of 2019, little consideration was given to Indy Lights. The IndyCar feeder series has always struggled to gain traction, but the 2010s saw a notable decline in its appeal. Under the ownership of promoter Andersen Promotions between 2014 and the end of 2021, grid numbers had reached a low point.
