The announcement of Katherine Legge driving the No. 11 HMD Motorsports Dallara-Chevrolet, supported by AJ Foyt Racing, completes the 2026 Indy 500 starting grid. Following last week's announcement of Abel Motorsports with Jacob Abel, only one final driver was needed to confirm that the Indianapolis 500 will once again feature 33 drivers, divided into eleven rows of three.
"Honestly, coming back to the Indy 500 feels like Christmas."Legge rejoices. "Each time I return, I realize more and more what it takes, not only to compete, but also to deserve to be there. It reminds me that I am just a small link in this race with its legendary record."
Katherine Legge is one of only nine women to have competed in the Indianapolis 500 since Janet Guthrie's first participation in 1977, and she holds the women's one-lap and four-lap (a qualifying run) speed records for the race.

Its last participation dates back to 2024, when it had to retire due to engine failure. With the announcement of a thirty-third car entered, Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials can breathe a sigh of relief, now that the traditional number has been reached. If no more cars are expected to enter, the "Bump Day" tradition will not continue, but reaching 33 cars at the start of the Indy 500 was of paramount importance to the teams at Penske Entertainment, the parent company of the circuit and theIndyCar.
