A straightaway of nearly 800 meters will connect the first two turns on Pennsylvania Avenue, heading towards the White House. For obvious security reasons, the track will not pass in front of the residence of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
The circuit will also pass by the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Museum. Two-time IndyCar champion and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Josef Newgarden had the opportunity to drive on the seven-turn circuit that will host the race on August 23. The circuit will loop around the National Esplanade, an iconic park in Washington, D.C., facing the Capitol Building, where hundreds of thousands of Americans gather, notably every four years on January 20, for the presidential inauguration.
"This circuit is unlike any other street race we've ever seen.", Newgarden said. “There’s a high-speed section on Pennsylvania Avenue that will reward commitment and precision, as well as technical turns around 9th Street that will demand the utmost respect. Racing at the heart of American history, with these incredible landmarks lining the track, is going to be an incredibly powerful experience. I can’t wait to come back here to race and celebrate America’s birthday at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix.”
