Mike O'Gara replaces Bill Pappas in this role, who has gone the other way by returning to a racing team, specifically Dale Coyne Racing, to act as a race engineer for Romain Grosjean this season. As vice president of competition, in charge of engineering, O'Gara will notably oversee the arrival of the new chassis.IndyCarplanned for 2028, also with a new engine formula.

He will also oversee the IndyCar technical teams, including the technical regulations and race bulletins, which can adapt the cars' technical specifications to the specific requirements of all types of tracks. O'Gara has spent the last twelve years with Chip Ganassi Racing, where he most recently managed Ganassi's Indy NXT team, after having taken charge of the Ford GT program competing in WEC and IMSA (including a category victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans).

"I am thrilled to take this next step in my career and honored to join IndyCar in this crucial role for the series."O'Gara said. “This is a really exciting time for the sport, with the upcoming arrival of a new car and the opportunity to capitalize on the growing interest in Indy NXT. I know my past experience allows me to contribute and help shape the future of North America’s premier open-wheel racing series. I can’t wait to get started.”

Highly regarded in the paddock, Mike O'Gara is an ideal successor to Bill Pappas in the role, both men having shone in multiple teams with their engineering genius.
