The wait to know the identity of the second PREMA driver in IndyCar is over. This Tuesday, the Italian team made official the signing of Robert Shwartzman for the 2025 season of the American championship. The Venetian team will make its debut in IndyCar next year and has therefore recalled a former member of the house to guide it in this new adventure alongside Callum Ilott, announced last September.
The Russian, who drives under an Israeli license, drove for PREMA between 2018 and 2021 in Formula 3 – where he won the title in 2019 – then in Formula 2, where he finished runner-up twice. Since then, Robert Shwartzman has joined the Ferrari fold and become a reserve driver for the Team en Formula 1 and full-time driver in WEC, within the semi-private team AF Corse, in the Hypercar category. He notably won Lone Star Le Mans last September in Austin. Like PREMA, Robert Shwartzman will discover IndyCar next season.

“I am really excited to be back with PREMA to start a new adventure in IndyCar., rejoices Robert Shwartzman. Everything will be new for us and there will be many challenges to overcome, but it will also be a lot of fun and a lot of work at the same time. I think we have a very successful future ahead of us. IndyCar is a very competitive championship, with so many good drivers, and I am looking forward to the races, because they look really cool. I have never driven on oval circuits and mastering them will be a completely new challenge. However, with PREMA we have achieved a lot in the past, and I think my experience in F1 andEndurance will help us evolve quickly and gain speed.”
