With just under a month to go until the start of the 2025 season in St. Petersburg (Florida) on March 2, theIndyCar has decided to shake things up within his staff, even touching on the management of the Indianapolis circuit. In place for about ten years, Jay Frye will leave his place to Doug Boles at the head of the American championship. The latter will nevertheless remain in the position of president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) which he has held since 2013.

Doug Boles is a well-known face in IndyCar and the Indy 500. During his tenure at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he oversaw the organization of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, the first sold-out race in the history of the event. During his tenure at IMS, he was especially recognized for his promotional prowess and strategic marketing abilities. As a founding partner and COO of Panther Racing, Boles helped lead the team to 15 race wins and two IndyCar championships.

“Doug is the ideal candidate to lead IndyCar and IMS as we enter a new era of opportunity and visibility, said Mark Miles, CEO of Penske Entertainment. He is an exceptional leader who is loved by our fans and respected by our owners, drivers, partners and other key stakeholders.”

“Racing is in my DNA, and no form of racing resonates more personally and strongly with me than IndyCar, says Doug Boles. I am honored to lead the incredible IndyCar team and believe the future is bigger and brighter than ever for our sport and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I am extremely grateful to Mark Miles for this opportunity, and fans can rest assured that the hard work is already underway and 2025 will be a fantastic season.”

With Jay Frye's sudden departure as head of IndyCar, several changes have been made within the organization. Mark Sibla has been promoted to senior vice president of IndyCar racing and operations, Kyle Novak has become vice president of officiating and race direction, Alex Damron has been named chief marketing officer, while remaining vice president of corporate communications for Penske Entertainment, and Louis Kissinger has been promoted to general manager of operations at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
