"We are actively studying the feasibility of a race in the nation's capital to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States."a spokesperson for the championship told Forbes magazine. "This would be an opportunity to celebrate a historic milestone for our country with an exciting and patriotic event. As you can imagine, overcoming all the obstacles necessary to organize a race in Washington DC is a very complex matter."

The District of Columbia, the federal capital of the United States, is indeed subject to specific regulations, such as the ban on advertising at the Capitol.
