Romain Grosjean will he still be a starter in IndyCar next season? This is the big question surrounding the future of the Tricolore, which is not tied to a team at the moment. Last November, the former Haas en F1 admitted that he was still at an impasse as to 2025.

« It's a question of budget, he explained to RACER. For now, I have nothing planned. The situation is what it is.. » And things have changed a bit since that release. Back then, there were two options left: Juncos and Dale Coyne. Now, there's only one left. after Conor Daly's announcement among the first who completed the workforce.

Dale Coyne waiting for investors, Grosjean too

Romain Grosjean is now turning to Dale Coyne, but the situation is slightly complex. Indeed, the Plainfield-based team is also at an impasse. Currently, its two seats are still available, but the bosses have not yet decided on the drivers.

Firstly because Dale Coyne is actively looking for investors in the hope of recruiting two big names and thus avoiding having to use “paying pilots”. It's about investing in the team itself, confided the latter from RACER a few days ago. That would definitely change the situation. If you have an investor who is passionate about sports, if you have a billionaire investor, like many teams have… For them it’s [simply] A round of golf, for me that's everything. They can support the budget. They have connections and a network to find sponsors that I don't have. That's valuable. Franchises have opened the door to all of that, to a large extent.. » This would then be good news for Romain Grosjean with a view to 2025.

But if the arrival of an investor does not materialize, Dale Coyne Racing could then return to an old strategy. Thus, the team would call on a driver who would bring a big budget to be able to recruit a “good” one on the other side. This would therefore allow for a certain balance in terms of the ambitions of the structure.

In this regard, Rinus VeeKay would hold the lead while the Dutchman completed a test session with Dale Coyne Racing in Indianapolis. So, the hopes of seeing Romain Grosjean on the grid in 2025 would be slim. After 4 full seasons, the Tricolore could thus find himself on the bench next year where he would probably be content with the 5 rounds ofEndurance en IMSA with Lamborghini. But for now, it is only confirmed for the 24 2025 Hours of Daytona (January 25-26).
