Hurricane Francine hit Louisiana this Wednesday evening, and will gradually move towards Tennessee. While the city of Memphis will be the most affected, well to the west of Nashville and Lebanon, where the circuit is located, significant rain and even thunderstorms are still expected from Friday to Monday, therefore during the entire race weekend of this last round of the season. Initially a category 2 out of 5, the hurricane was downgraded to category 1 when it hit Louisiana.

According to Racer.com, who was able to speak with an official of theIndyCar, the main objective of this weekend will be to allow the drivers to have the maximum possible testing time, in order to best prepare for the 206-lap race scheduled for Sunday at 21:30 p.m. French time. The presence of soft tires from Firestone, unlike the races usually held on ovals, adds to the importance of organizing test sessions. If necessary, qualifying could therefore be canceled, and the starting grid decided by the championship standings, with the two leaders Álex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Will Power (Team Penske), on the front row.

"We have lights at the Speedway, we have three Air Titans to dry the track, and there is no sound limit this time, so we can run as late as we need to.", explained a spokesperson for the event. "We will be able to compete in the race."

Let's hope that the 206 laps of the event will be contested in their entirety, it would be sad to see the championship finale end earlier than expected, due to rain!
