Ranking top 11 Carb Day Indy 500 2024

  • We must never forget Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing). The New Zealand veteran, winner of the 500 Indy 2008, set the best time of Carb Day, the last two-hour practice session before the start of the 500 Indianapolis 2024 this Sunday, May 26.
  • This two-hour session was not, however, about riding as fast as possible. Instead, the teams made sure to adjust the settings so that the drivers were comfortable in the peloton. We thus saw the competitors overtake each other, let themselves be pulled up by the pack, and then go on the attack again, just to check the behavior of their car in the wake of other cars.
  • back in IndyCar only for the Indy 500, in order to aim for a 5th victory which would make him the sole record holder for the event, Helio Castroneves (Meyer Shank Racing) stood out with the 2nd best time. Above all, the Brazilian surprised observers by adopting several different trajectories in turn 3, which suggests that the four-time winner is in complete confidence in the cockpit of his white Dallara.
  • The session passed without incident, except for rookie Kyle Larson (Arrow) running out of fuel. McLaren Hendrick Motorsports) with a quarter of an hour to go. The champion of NASCAR Cup Series is doing “double duty” this weekend and will compete in the Charlotte 600 just a few hours after the end of the Indy 500.
  • Third of theIndy 500 2023, qualified 6th for Sunday, Santino Ferrucci (AJ Foyt Racing) only completed 48 laps following adjustment problems, as team boss Larry Foyt confirmed to our special correspondent Michaël Duforest. “Santino didn't like the behavior of the rear (of the car. Editor's note) when he was on the track. We just wanted to go back (to the garage) to make sure everything is in place, before we start making a lot of changes to the car. We've rebuilt the car since testing on Monday, and sometimes things don't fit as well as others, we're just making sure everything fits perfectly. »
  • French Romain Grosjean (Juncos Hollinger Racing) set the 25th time, ahead of Alexander Rossi (Arrow McLaren), the latter having to start 4th in the race. Proof therefore that the ranking of this session has a very relative value.
  • The start of the 500 Indy 2024 is set for 18:45 p.m. mainland France time on Sunday May 26.
