Suspense fans may be contrite by the only question that must be asked before the Grand Prix of St Petersburg (Florida) next weekend: can Alex Palou be beaten? Already credited with two coronations in IndyCar at just 26 years old, the Spaniard is a force of nature. Certainly, its sponsor changes in 2024 (it takes over DHL, former partner of Romain Grosjean), but don't expect to see the Catalan adopt a more aggressive driving style.
Metronome on the track (he has finished 48% of his races on the podium since his debut in 2021!), Alex Palou no longer fears anyone, except a stubborn lack of success at the Indianapolis 500, the only monument which is missing from his record in the discipline. With a transfer market which mainly concerned mid-table teams and rookies with varying potential, the Chip Ganassi Racing driver will find opponents identical to previous years, namely his teammate Scott Dixon (winner of three of the last four events in 2023) and the Team Penske trio (Scott McLaughlin, Josef Newgarden and Will Power).
