Argentina will always be represented in IndyCar next year. Arriving in the United States in 2023 after a long and successful career on his land, Agustín Canapino has obviously done a good job. In any case, he has filled enough boxes for Juncos Hollinger Racing to reiterate its confidence in him for a new campaign.
However, obtaining this extension was not an easy task for the “Titan” whose promotional tour a few weeks ago in his native country proved decisive. While it seemed a bit fair on a financial level, Agustín Canapino secured the necessary budget to compete for another year, to the delight of his boss and compatriot Ricardo Juncos.
« Agustín's incredible performance on the track not only exceeded our expectations, but was also a source of pride for the entire team, recognize Ricardo Juncos. His energy, dedication and sportsmanship united us and created a truly exceptional feeling of camaraderie. We look forward to continuing this incredible adventure together. »
For his first year in IndyCar, also his first in car, Agustín Canapino finished 21e in the drivers' standings and second among the rookies behind Marcus Armstrong (Chip Ganassi Racing).
« Many thanks to Ricardo and Brad (Hollinger) to continue to trust me, Hector Martinez Sosa, Grupo Empresario Prieto and INPROTUR for their support (his sponsors), smiled the Argentinian. After an incredible 2023 season, where we achieved good results, entered the Leaders Circle (those who have led at least one lap in the race) and have consistently delivered strong performances, all in my first year in single-seaters, I am filled with joy and motivation to have the opportunity to continue growing as a driver and contribute to the constant and remarkable evolution of the team. For 2024, the state of mind will be different. What was once filled with doubts and uncertainties will now be a relentless pursuit of improvement day after day, seeking results and consistency in every race."
If the No. 78 has found a buyer, a solution remains to be found for the No. 77. While Callum Ilott had a solid season on board, the Englishman is not guaranteed to keep his seat next year.
