A true globetrotter, Katherine Legge has competed in a multitude of championships since 2006 and her arrival in Champ Car in the United States. She has also been seen in A1GP, in Formula E and IMSA, behind the wheel of the iconic Delta Wing. In recent years, Legge has made his debut in NASCAR Cup Series, and it is in this championship that she will take on a new challenge this May.
Driving the No. 11 Dallare-Chevrolet for HMD Motorsport, in collaboration with AJ Foyt Racing, for the Indianapolis 500, the 45-year-old British driver will attempt to compete in the Charlotte 600, the longest race of the NASCAR Cup Series season, on the same day, in the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports. This feat, known as "Double Duty," is often attempted but has rarely resulted in drivers completing the 1,100 miles (1,760 km) of both races.
"It's an exciting time."Legge told USA TODAY Sports. "This is a new achievement that I can truly show the whole world: if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything, and even achieve things you might never have dared to dream of before."
Following in the footsteps of drivers like John Andretti, Tony Stewart, Robby Gordon, Kurt Busch, and more recently Kyle Larson, Legge will be the first woman to attempt the "Double Duty," and the first non-European driver to do so. To travel from Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charlotte, North Carolina, a meticulously planned schedule must be followed, including a helicopter flight from the track to Indianapolis Airport after the Indy 500, then a flight to Charlotte, and finally another helicopter that will take the driver directly to the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
As in Indianapolis, Katherine Legge will be sponsored in Charlotte by elf Cosmetics, a company that has been supporting her since 2024, and which aims to promote motorsport in a different way, and to make it possible to interest more women in motorsport, in particular through activations on the different tracks where the drivers supported by the brand compete.

Provided it doesn't rain in Indianapolis... Larson arrived late in Charlotte because of the rain which delayed the start of the Indy and was only able to participate in the Coke 600 "thanks" to his retirement from the Indy...
