While Q1 and Q2 took place on a wet track, the drivers were able to put on soft tires for Q3 on the magnificent Wisconsin track. An accident by Josef Newgarden (Penske) in the final minutes sealed the starting grid. In this little game, it was Lundqvist who was on pole at the right time, finishing the session a tenth ahead of Colton Herta (Andretti), who was the favorite for a second consecutive pole. Marcus Armstrong (Ganassi) is ahead of Kyle Kirkwood (Andretti), while the third row will be made up of Penske teammates Will Power and Josef Newgarden.
The winner of the Indianapolis 500 lost control in the fastest corner of the circuit, The Kink, veering slightly off course. His left wheels came into contact with a wetter surface, and the American was unable to do anything. Despite a big impact, Newgarden came out of his car. He will still have to go to the circuit medical center to check that he has no internal injuries.

The French out in Q1
If Ganassi can be satisfied with the pole position of its young drivers, the team's road captains, Alex Palou and Scott Dixon (championship leader), will have to start from seventh and tenth positions, after having almost in Q2. For the first time, five cars from the same team were present in Q2, since Kyffin Simpson achieved his best qualifying, with twelfth place on the starting grid.
The French drivers were both eliminated in the first part of qualifying. Romain Grosjean will start from 14th place at the wheel of his Juncos Hollinger Racing car, four positions ahead Theo Pourchaire. The young pilot of Team Arrow McLaren hoped for much better, even believing he had the pace to place in Q3, but he was trapped by the difficult conditions, and by difficult weather on the longest track in the championship.
Seventh round of the 2024 seasonIndyCar, the Road America Grand Prix will take place this Sunday, from 21:35 p.m. French time.
