The two entities entered into a commercial agreement at the end of 2023. This agreement had not yet fully entered into force, as Ricardo Juncos told us last month in Indianapolis, it is now broken. McLaren took this decision unilaterally, following strong criticism and threats sent against its pilot Theo Pourchaire, this week. The French driver hit Agustin Canapino (Juncos Hollinger) during the Detroit Grand Prix, provoking the ire of a section of fans on social networks. Pourchaire, McLaren, Juncos and Canapino reacted in various press releases, which did not succeed in appeasing the British team.

« The Arrow McLaren team IndyCar has terminated its commercial alliance with Juncos Hollinger Racing, effective immediately. This decision follows actions that occurred earlier this week on social media in relation to an incident that occurred on the track during the Detroit Grand Prix. As outlined in the team's Social Media Community Code, Arrow McLaren does not tolerate any form of abuse or discrimination and fully condemns online abuse directed at our team and driver.", we can read in a press release from McLaren.

Juncos is not afraid of the future

The team of Ricardo Juncos and Brad Hollinger also reacted to this announcement, on their X account (formerly Twitter): “Today our commercial agreement with Arrow McLaren has ended. We have enjoyed our time with McLaren over the past few months. This is a world-class organization that we enjoy fighting against every week. Although our partnership did not bear fruit, we retain all our respect for them and we are confident about the future of Juncos Hollinger Racing. »

The controversy surrounding Juncos Hollinger and Canapino is unfortunately not the first, Callum Ilott having been the victim of the same threats following several contacts with the man who was his teammate in 2023.
