The former pilot of Formula 1 will make his debut in IndyCar Next season, after participating in a test session on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course last year, he will drive for Rahal Letterman Lanigan alongside Graham Rahal and Louis Foster. Schumacher will be at the wheel of the Dallara-Honda No. 47, a number he already wore in F1, and which combines his favorite number, No. 4, and that of his father, No. 7, which is also the number of world titles won by Michael Schumacher.
"I am delighted to confirm today that I will be competing in the full IndyCar season next year with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing."Schumacher said. "Based on my experience in F1 and in EnduranceHaving participated in various racing series over the years, I possess knowledge and expertise that I am confident will contribute to an excellent partnership. RLL has already prepared me very well during testing, and I am convinced that we can achieve great things together.
I was also immediately drawn to the car and the American approach to motorsport, which seems to favor pure and direct racing, and it's precisely this aspect that appeals to me most. And of course, I'm eager to experience new things and always interested in broadening my horizons. For me, a new adventure begins here, and I can't wait for the season to start.
A few days after his departure from the stable Alpine Mick Schumacher, who has spent the last two seasons in Endurance racing, confirms that he is going to the United States for a full season, and he will therefore try to qualify for the 110th edition of the Indianapolis 500 next May.
The 2026 IndyCar season will kick off on March 1st on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Thank you… for your comments… Kisses… I'm always optimistic because life has proven to me that if you believe… you succeed… For Mick, I completely agree, he was a force to be reckoned with in F1, but in WEC he demonstrated his potential… so let's see… in Indy. alainkf1@pt.lu 😎👀 Mick 👍

It's off to the United States for a "one-way ticket" because Schumacher Jr. can forget about F1, where he left too many carbon-fiber bills at Haas... "Hard Racing" in IndyCar, will he be able to adapt and perform well? We'll see, because other former F1 drivers have failed before him!

@Alain Féguenne, I admire the optimism surrounding the possibility of seeing young Schumacher back in F1, but a little realism wouldn't hurt. Even a very complete driver like Palou doesn't interest F1, despite his numerous titles, so Schumacher's return to F1 seems more like wishful thinking than a real possibility. In any case, he can perform well there; he has the ability. At least I wish him success.
