With the arrival of PREMA Racing in 2025, 27 seats are available for the upcoming season, and 25 of them have already found buyers. While a good portion of the field is being renewed in the same team, there are some major changes, and some long-term partnerships are ending. It is worth noting that the list below only describes the 27 full-time seats (the 25 franchisees and PREMA), without taking into account any freelancers who could come and fill the grid occasionally, and the drivers who will only do the Indianapolis 500 Miles, for which we expect at least 33 entrants.

IndyCar – The 2025 grid
Team Penske (Chevrolet)
No. 2 – Josef Newgarden
#3 – Scott McLaughlin
#12 – Will Power
No change in the team of "Captain" Roger Penske, who is keeping his trio that has been in good shape for several years now.
Arrow McLaren (Chevrolet)
No. 5 – Pato O'Ward
#6 – Nolan Siegel
No. 7 – Christian Lundgaard
Pato O'Ward, the team's leading figure, is back for another season, alongside Nolan Siegel, who arrived mid-season in 2024. Christian Lundgaard is replacing Alexander Rossi, after two seasons from the American.
Chip Ganassi Racing (Honda)
#8 – Kyffin Simpson
#9 – Scott Dixon
No. 10 – Alex Palou
No reason to change a winning team! The three Ganassi drivers are extending their leases, but Marcus Armstrong and Linus Lundqvist have been asked to look elsewhere, due to the quota limiting the number of franchises per team to three.
AJ Foyt Racing (Chevrolet)
No. 14 – Santino Ferrucci
No. 41 – David Malukas
AJ Foyt's team made the big move of the offseason by recruiting David Malukas from Meyer Shank. Perfectly integrated into the team, Santino Ferrucci continues his tenure with the Texan team.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (Honda)
#15 – Graham Rahal
#30 – Devlin DeFrancesco
No. 45 – Louis Foster
Besides Bobby Rahal's son Graham, there are changes at RLL, with the arrival of Devlin DeFrancesco in place of Pietro Fittipaldi and the entry of Louis Foster, reigning Indy NXT champion, in place of Christian Lundgaard, who left for Arrow McLaren.
Dale Coyne Racing (Honda)
#18 – Rinus VeeKay
No. 19 – Jacob Abel
Dale Coyne Racing will be betting on a duo of Dutchman Rinus VeeKay and rookie Jacob Abel for this new season.
Ed Carpenter Racing (Chevrolet)
No. 20 – Alexander Rossi
No. 21 – Christian Rasmussen
The Arrow McLaren transfer will have a good chance to show himself at the Indianapolis 500 and the rest of the season, while the young Dane is promoted to the full season after a good rookie year.
Andretti Global (Honda)
#26 – Colton Herta
#27 – Kyle Kirkwood
No. 28 – Marcus Ericsson
No changes at Andretti Global, which finished second in the last championship with Colton Herta.
Meyer Shank Racing (Honda)
No. 60 – Felix Rosenqvist
#66 – Marcus Armstrong
After a great 2024 season, Felix Rosenqvist logically extends his contract with Meyer Shank, where he will be reunited with New Zealander Marcus Armstrong. The latter will not be playing in completely uncharted territory, since MSR is forming an alliance with Chip Ganassi.
Juncos Hollinger Racing (Chevrolet)
#77 – Conor Daly
#78 – Sting Ray Robb
The Argentinian team has decided to hire Conor Daly, a freelancer who stood on the podium in Milwaukee this year. Sting Ray Robb arrives from AJ Foyt with substantial funding.
PREMA Racing (Chevrolet)
No. 83 – Robert Shwartzman
#90 – Callum Ilott
The new team on the grid has placed its trust in two of its former drivers, both of whom have been through the F2. Callum Ilott is experienced in IndyCar, while Robert Shwartzman will discover the discipline.
