What if Super Formula became an even more credible alternative than the Formula 2 In the medium to long term? On the grid of the Japanese championship next year, the Finn Kalle Rovanperä, two-time world champion WRCThis has already been confirmed. While nothing is truly certain at this stage, Briton Luke Browning will at least be competing in the post-season tests taking place from December 10th to 12th at the Suzuka circuit.

monitored by the academy WilliamsThe driver, currently fourth in the F2 championship and a long-time title contender, has still not been confirmed for next year's grid. Signed by Hitech, the driver who secured his first victory in the series this season – at Monza – could team up with American Colton Herta if he were to continue with the team. However, British media outlets suggest that a change of plans could very well be on the cards for the 23-year-old driver.

Browning retains Williams' confidence

Still supported by Williams at this stage, Luke Browning will notably be present in Free Practice 1 in Abu Dhabi this weekend, driving one of the F1 from the Grove team. Furthermore, he will drive on December 9th as part of the post-season tests, thus renewing the confidence of his academy in him.

“We use cutting-edge technologies to ensure it is perfectly prepared,” Sven Smeets, head of the Williams academy, told us this summer. He trains on our simulator to prepare for his races. But, an important point regarding Luke is that he completed testing for the first time, as he had never participated in TPC tests before. The final step he now needs to take is the conversion of his participation in the single-seater driver categories into a test and reserve driver role in F1. This is an integral part of his journey.

Pending any further announcements, Luke Browning may not be able to participate in the test day on December 10th at Suzuka. Having been present the previous day in Abu Dhabi driving a Formula 1 car, he would only have two days of actual testing in Japan before a potential move to the Asian series next year. Will this be a winning bet for Williams, or a new path for the Briton? In any case, his potential remains among the most highly regarded in the academy he currently belongs to.
