The Briton, who is also a reserve pilot of Williams en Formula 1Luke Browning will be discovering the Super Formula series in Japan this year. He was participating in the collective tests organized on Wednesday when he suffered a serious accident at 130R in the pouring rain.
Browning lost control just after entering the corner, and his arrival in the wet gravel sent his car in a series of rolls. The 24-year-old driver's single-seater ended its race upside down behind the safety barriers, an image reminiscent of Allan McNish's accident, which also ended beyond the barriers, with his Toyota F1 in 2002.
After a few moments of concern, the British driver managed to extricate himself from his car and walk to the medical car, which was positioned in the corner. Luke Browning impressed with his lap times on Wednesday, setting the fifth fastest time of the afternoon before his accident, after having been fourth in the morning. A second day of testing is scheduled for the Super Formula field on Thursday; it is currently unknown whether Browning will be able to participate.
Also on track this Wednesday, Kalle Rovanperä finished 19th, three seconds behind the afternoon's benchmark time, set by Ren Sato.
