The righteous champion. Author of a metronomic season, Sho Tsuboi saw his efforts rewarded this Sunday at Suzuka, where the finale of the 2024 Super Formula campaign was held as part of a double-header.
Arriving in the big eight with a 14-point lead over Tadasuke Makino (Dandelion Racing) after winning both Fuji races in October, the Team TOM'S rider had practically done the hardest part. Nevertheless, he could not rest given the weekend's schedule and the 46 units still at stake. But like his season, Sho Tsuboi showed himself to be full of confidence, almost impervious to the pressure.
Although he was unable to claim either pole position, he was uncompromising in the race. A bit too short to hold his own against Kakunoshin Ohta (Dandelion Racing), the astonishing double winner at Suzuka, Tsuboi took two 2nd places which secured him his first championship title, thus validating a campaign of incredible consistency.
Yet she had started with an 11th place at Suzuka. The only negative point of her year because the rest was almost perfect: 8 races, 7 podiums including three victories.
Sho Tsuboi is now in the running for the Super Formula/Super GT double since he is also leading the latter with Kenta Yamashita with one round to go. The latter is scheduled for December 7 and 8, once again at Suzuka. What could bring him luck?
