Romain Grosjean tests the GP3

Current leader of the GP2 Series, Romain Grosjean was yesterday at the Castellet HTTT to test the GP3 prototype, a single-seater which will be entered next season. This new series will be placed “under” GP2.

“I am very happy to have been able to take the first laps of the car of GP3", comments Romain Grosjean. ?We enjoyed a productive day with very few small problems and many good surprises, particularly in terms of performance. I was impressed by the reliability of the car for its first outing. »

The chassis of this single-seater comes from the Dallara workshops. The 2-liter turbo engine is developed by Renault and the slick tires are supplied by Pirelli.

“There is a lot of support. Compared to the F3, I find that the accelerations are sharper and that the passage speeds in fast curves are equivalent. The steering wheel gearbox control is another asset that will prepare drivers very well to move from GP3 to GP2,” adds Romain.

Other sessions will be organized to finalize the development of the car. The organizers, the same as in GP2, will soon communicate on the costs of a season. The selection of teams will begin in September and the first collective tests will take place in March 2010 for a start to the season shared with the GP2 Series.
