The British want to shine
As we reach the halfway point of the championship, the Formula Renault 3.5 Series season is in full swing. In the lead, Marcos Martinez and Bertrand Baguette both have 56 points. But behind, the British have not said their last word.
This weekend, during the Silverstone meeting of the World Series by Renault, the competitors will once again have the opportunity to shine. In front, Marcos Martinez (Pons Racing) had a very good start to the season marked by three victories during the first two meetings. Since then, the Spaniard has been marking time and Bertrand Baguette (International Draco Racing) is taking advantage. The Belgian has been on the podium four times and could well take advantage of the British round to take the lead in the championship.
At Silverstone, you will also have to monitor the important British colony. With four representatives in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, the subjects of Queen Elizabeth II will be keen to shine in front of an expected crowd in large numbers. “ I will simply try to win both races! », predicts James Walker, currently third in the general classification, 10 points behind the leaders. His compatriot, Oliver Turvey, also wants to show off. “ It?s really good to race at Silverstone which is my ?home? race. I can not wait to be there. I hope we will be in the rhythm and that we can get the victory », he announces.
Greg Mansell (Ultimate Motorsport) and Jon Lancaster (Comtec Racing), new to the category, will complete the British field and will try to continue their progress after a Hungarian meeting full of promise.
