Proudly sporting my FIA badge, I cross the vast parking lots of the fan zone, pulling my shopping bag. In a few hours, I'll be taking to the legendary Monza circuit, alongside a dozen other historic F1 cars. Organized by Officina Caira at several European Grands Prix, these demonstration runs allow the public to see iconic cars back on track, powered by engines far more melodious than today's turbo-hybrid V6s.
A paddock specially dedicated to these former glories has been set up for the occasion, near the F3 and F2 team structures. The crowd gathered in front of the tents betrays the enthusiasm these cars still generate among a diverse audience: from people in their fifties…
