René Metge's children at the Africa Eco Race Historic to pay tribute to him

This is a great way to keep the legend of a Paris-Dakar figure like René Metge alive. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of their father René Metge's victory in a Porsche 959 has become legendary, Elodie and Jonathan will also launch an assault on Africa next year.

In fact, the children of the three-time winner of the greatest Rally-Raid who left us on January 3, 2024 will participate in the Africa Eco Race Historic in 2026 (January 24-February 7). A little nod to their father's career, they will also reach the Senegalese capital at the wheel of a Porsche 959. My father made his dreams come true, he passed on to us his values, his passion, his love of Africa and his deep humanity. Joining Dakar in a Porsche is my dream, it's up to us to make it come true, » smiles Élodie Metge who already has experience in competition… having taken part in the Paris-Dakar 2003 as her father's co-driver with a 23rd place finish, then in 2005 as part of the first 100% female crew.

Before heading to Tangier in Morocco for the official start of the Africa Eco Race Historic 2026, Élodie and Jonathan aim to travel across France to share their adventure with motorsport enthusiasts and Rally-Raid fans. Moments of exchange and sharing with the public to allow them to see the Porsche 959. I had the chance to travel the world with my father and share his passion, remembers Jonathan Metge.
