This year, the Goodwood Revival becomes the first historic motor racing event to use sustainable fuels for all of its races. The event will also pay tribute to John Surtees, the only driver to be both a World Champion F1 and motorcycles in the 1960s. Parades are planned.
We will be eagerly awaiting the performance of Romain Dumas, multiple winner at the Goodwood Revival with GTs and touring cars. The Goodwood Revival skillfully mixes GT and Touring car events withEndurance, single-seaters and F1s from the last century. Even motorcycles have their own race!
The different platforms:
St Mary's Trophy - Touring Cars
It will be the highlight of the show thanks to an exceptional list of entrants. The disorder, the seven-time champion NASCAR Jimmie Johnson will drive a Ford Galaxie and will face five-time Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro in a Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, to the team director Red Bull Racing Christian Horner in a BMW 1800 TiSA, and reigning Goodwood Festival of Speed winner Romain Dumas in another Galaxie, plus a host of past and present touring car drivers including Matt Neal, Jake Hill, Tom Ingram, Rob Huff, Andy Priaulx, Gordon Shedden, Andrew Jordan and Anthony Reid.
Jean-Eric Vergne, current pilot of Formula E, and Jochen Mass will also be driving Giulia Sprint GTAs, Alex Brundle will be behind the wheel of a Mini Cooper S and Abbie Eaton will attempt to tame a Plymouth Barracuda.
Freddie March Memorial Trophy – The icons of the 9am of Goodwood!
The Freddie March Memorial Trophy has been a mainstay of the Goodwood Revival for many years, with its mix of superb sports cars dating back to the days of the Goodwood Nine Hours. As 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of the 1953 event, the Freddie March Memorial Trophy will be our two-driver sunset race on Friday evening. Expect to see cars like the powerful Jaguar C-Type, theAston Martin DB3S, the Jaguar XK120, the Frazer Nash and the Austin Healey.
Goodwood Trophy – Grand Prix Cars and Carts from the 30s and 40s
Popular with spectators, the Goodwood Trophy will host an impressive collection of Grand Prix and Voiturette cars from the 1930s and 1940s. The Revival's oldest race will once again see the cars that raced at Goodwood when the circuit opened compete on the track. Expect to see cars from ERA, Maserati, Alta and many more.
Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy – 1960s Grand Prix Motorcycles
Probably the most exciting race of the Revival, the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy will see Grand Prix motorcycles from the 1960s compete against each other. Legends from the world of British Superbike, MotoGP and the Isle of Man TT will face off in this two-rider duel.
Glover Trophy – 1,5 liter Grand Prix cars from 1961 to 1965
The Revival's newest Formula 1 race has to be one of the most anticipated events of the historic motorsport season. Today, the Glover Trophy honors legendary racers such as Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark and Graham Hill, with the types of cars they raced at the time: Lotus 25, BRM P261, Ferrari 1512.
Lavant Cup – Ferrari GT from 1960-1966
In honor of 60 years since Graham Hill won the RAC TT at Goodwood in a Ferrari 250 GTO, the Lavant Cup will welcome a full grid of Ferrari GTs from the 1960s to the 2023 racing calendar. Expect this as breathtakingly beautiful GTOs take on 250 SWBs and 250 LMs in what may well be the last time some of these cars race competitively.
Chichester Cup – Formula Junior cars from 1960 to 1963
These tiny but nimble racing machines will wage a magnificent battle between Lotus and Cooper. Formula Junior cars play an important role in the history of motorsport – the cars on track will emulate those driven by the racing stars of the 1960s and 1970s.
Richmond and Gordon Trophies – 2,5 liter Grand Prix cars from 1952 to 1960
An era race that changed Formula 1 forever and the more powerful engined Grand Prix cars of the late 1950s. It was during this era that front and rear engined cars were split the starting grid, as Cooper's innovation began to change the face of single-seater racing forever. The Richmond and Gordon Trophies will feature front- and rear-engined Formula 1 cars racing against each other like in the 20th century .
RAC TT Celebration – closed cockpit GT cars and prototypes from 1960 to 1964
Celebrating the era when the RAC TT’s flagship races were held at Goodwood, the RAC TT Celebration is at the very heart of historic motorsport at Goodwood. From lightweight Jaguar E-Types, Cobras, Corvette Sting Rays, Porsche 904, and many more, as well as a large number of VIP stars, will be entering the battle.
Whitsun Trophy – Sports prototypes from 1960-1966
The fastest race of the Goodwood Revival weekend returns with a mix of Can-Am cars, Ford GT40s and other big-engined racing cars from Goodwood's late days. Together, they look – and sound – incredible as they take to the Goodwood circuit.
Sussex Trophy – World Championship Sports Cars 1955-1960
Filled with beautiful Ferrari 246S Dino's, Lister Knobbly's and Lotus 15's, the Sussex Trophy never fails to entertain, with recent races going all the way to the exit of the chicane to decide the winner. As the sun begins to set on the Revival weekend, these beauties from the early era of sports car racing will keep everyone from leaving early, making it the perfect curtain raiser to three brilliant days of sports car.
Fordwater Trophy –
The Fordwater Trophy, reserved for production sports and GT cars from 1955 to 1960, will feature a group of Porsche 356s, Jaguar XK150s, Elva Couriers and MGAs.
