At 31, Alex Lynn let his emotions surface on the deceleration lap of the Hyperpole des 24 hours of Le Mans 2025, this Thursday, June 12. The Briton took his first pole position in La Sarthe, at the wheel of the Cadillac V-Series.R.

Using a passage in the turns Porsche anthology, the 3rd in the Centenary edition in 2023 (with Cadillac already) beat his teammate from Hertz Team JOTA, Earl Bamber. “Any time you have the opportunity to drive this kind of car at Le Mans, with new tires, it’s a privilege and an honor,” explains the winner of the 24 2020 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro class. (Aston Martin). I feel something very special, indescribable. Le Mans is a magical circuit, a wonderful place. It's a place where I love to give my all."

Hyperpole's new procedure wasn't the easiest for Alex Lynn to navigate. "Getting into the car with cold medium tires for only 10 minutes of driving is complicated. I think there was more room for improvement on my lap than on the tires. So I wasn't at 100% of my ability on my pole lap. But that's what makes this Hyperpole so interesting!"

Alex lynn also had a scare during his attempt. "At the Indianapolis corner, on my first pass, aggressive adjustments to the differential caused me to lose time there. So, on my next lap, I was frantically adjusting the settings on my steering wheel, on the fly!"

The 3 GP2014 Series champion erased the disappointment of finishing second in Hyperpole in 2 at Le Mans. “Personally, I had to wait 12 months to try my luck again! I had lost pole position by just a tenth, a small gap that seemed huge to me. What’s more, I had thought I would get pole position for the 24 2024 Hours of Le Mans, before Kevin Estre (Porsche) don't beat me 30 seconds later. It was the longest 30 seconds of my life. So I was determined to recapture that delicious feeling this (Thursday) evening. "
