Never before seen! This is the first time that Cadillac has achieved pole position at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. As good things come in pairs, the American manufacturer has completely monopolized the front row of this 93rd edition of the Le Mans classic (starting Saturday at 16 p.m.). Englishman Alex Lynn (No. 12) beat his Hertz Team JOTA teammate, New Zealander Earl Bamber, by 167 thousandths of a second during a session held in ideal conditions.

Frenchman Mathieu Jaminet produced a fine effort to set the 3rd best time with his Porsche 963. Belgian Dries Vanthoor (BMW) will join him on the second row. The two German manufacturers also occupy the third row, with Nick Tandy (Porsche, 3th) and Sheldon van der Linde (BMW, 5th).

The title holder Ferrari was not flamboyant. Only one Italian car made it into Hyperpole 2, that of Antonio Fuoco who had to settle for 7th place. The top 10 was completed by a third Cadillac allocated to Action Express Racing and the champion of F2 2022, Felipe Drugovich (8th). The first Alpine A424 is driven by Frédéric Makowiecki, 9th.

At Toyota, we pout. Sébastien Buemi suffered a flat spot on his right front tire while braking at Mulsanne during his first timed lap of Hyperpole 2. The Swiss driver went into the gravel and returned to his garage slowly without having time to change tires and restart. He will therefore start 10th as he did not set a single time!

A bolt from the blue in the Ferrari pits at the 24 Hours of Le Mans! Alessandro Pier Guidi's Ferrari 499P (No. 51) isn't among the 10 fastest Hypercars in this first phase of Hyperpole. The Italian, winner of Le Mans in 2023, only set the 11th fastest time.

Among the other eliminated from this Hyperpole 1, disappointment is also present in the neighboring AF Corse box, with the elimination of Yife Ye (Ferrari n°83, 13th).

By following a run tactic without going through the pits to change tires, Paul-Loup Chatin (Alpine No. 35) failed to reach the top 10.

After an engine change during Free Practice on Thursday afternoon, Ricky Taylor's Cadillac V-Series.R could have qualified for Hyperpole 2, but his fastest time was disallowed for track limits violations.

As expected, the only one Aston Martin Valkyrie, registered in Hyperpole, Marco Sorensen's 009, does not pass the axe.

Hyperpole LMP2

The dragon has been slain by the lion! With his feline emblem affixed to the bodywork of the TDS Racing Oreca 07, Mathias Beche overcame the 2024 poleman, his compatriot Louis Delétraz. The Swiss driver set the third fastest time in his purple-decorated AO by TF Oreca.

Champion ofIMSA LMP2 in 2024 and absent from Le Mans in 2024, Tom Dillmann reminds the French of his fond memories with the 2nd fastest time with the winning team in 2023, Inter Europol Competition. The Alsatian will start 2nd between the two Swiss drivers.

The United Autosports team achieved a commendable group shot, with Ben Hanley ahead of the sister car of Pietro Fittipaldi (grandson of Emerson Fittipaldi, double world champion of Formula 1). With a brilliant golden dress, Matthieu Vaxiviere set the 7th time, behind Tom Blomqvist (CLX) and ahead of Ryan Cullen (RLR M Sport).

Hyperpole LMGT3

For his first participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Mattia Drudi (Aston Martin) hits hard. The Italian, winner of the 24 2024 Hours of Spa and GT3 specialist, brought the Heart of Racing Team to the top of the class during Hyperpole. A strong effort allowed him to beat the Ferrari 296 GT3 by Alessio Rovera (Vista AF Corse), one of the LMGT3 presenters in WEC.

The superstar Valentino Rossi (BMW) had the luxury of driving faster than the experts Maxime Martin (Mercedes-AMG) and Richard Lietz (Porsche)! Eight different manufacturers make up the top 8, demonstrating the category's appeal. The French team Akkodis ASP will start from 8th place.

Hyperpole 1 was marked by Francesco Castellacci (Ferrari No. 54) crashing into the gravel at the first Porsche corner. The Italian didn't have the opportunity to complete a single flying lap and will therefore start 12th in LMGT3.
