24 Hours of Le Mans – Test Day, Morning: Cadillac on top, Toyota #8 on the floor

Filipe Albuquerque put the No. 101 Cadillac at the top of the timesheets during the morning of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Test Day.

After two days of technical and administrative checks in downtown Le Mans, the 62 entrants of 24 Hours of Le Mans They are now back on track for the first day of testing, the traditional Test Day. Two three-hour sessions are planned, and during the first one, from 10am to 13pm, it was the Portuguese driver Filipe Albuquerque who took the lead in the final moments, with the Cadillac No. 101 which he shares with brothers Jordan and Ricky Taylor.

While the No. 12 Cadillac of Will Stevens, Louis Delétraz and Norman Nato led for a large part of the session, it ultimately had to settle for third place, behind theAlpine Charles Milesi's number 35, who switched to soft tires at the end of the session. As expected, soft and medium tires were the main focus this morning on a green track, while only the Toyota No. 8 fitted the hard tires in the morning.

For the same Toyota #8, the session ended half an hour before the checkered flag, after a collision with the #25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca 07 in the LMP2 category. The two cars touched at the first chicane after the Portuguese team's car spun, and the Toyota suffered significant damage to its left side. The teams now have a few hours to repair the car, with the second session starting at 15:30 PM, also for a duration of three hours, which can be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr.

For the teams and drivers, this will be the last opportunity to get warmed up before the start of Le Mans week this Wednesday, and the newcomers must complete ten laps on Sunday, five of which will be timed, to confirm their participation in the twice-around-the-clock race at Le Mans. In LMP2, the #183 AF Corse set the fastest lap, while in LMGT3, it was the Classic Ferrari for sale No. 21, who proved to be the fastest.
