2 female drivers

The female presence will be less prominent in 2026 with the disappearance of the Iron Dames, whom we will not see in the Endurance World Championship for the first time since 2022. Fortunately, we will still find... Dorian Pin in LMP2 with Duqueine Team, as well as Lilou Wadoux in LMGT3 with Richard Mille AF Corse. We can also hope to see Jamie Chadwick, whose IDEC Sport #18 she drives in ELMS is a reserve driver, replacing Paul-Loup Chatin in the team's other LMP2 car. The Frenchman has been announced as a Hypercar driver with Genesis.

9 reservists

Beyond the 62 cars entered, nine crews are on the reserve list. No Hypercars are announced, so there are five LMP2 teams: Cetilar Racing #47, CLX Motorsport #137, IDEC Sport #18, Vector Sport #16, and Proton Competition #11; and four LMGT3 teams: GR Racing #86, Blackthorn #56, United Autosport #95, and AF Corse #151. These teams can join the grid should a team withdraw before race week.

12 former F1 drivers

Of the 158 drivers announced so far in the entry list, 12 have already had experience in Formula 1 and have competed in at least one Grand Prix in their career. This is the case for Sébastien Bourdais, Will Stevens, Jack Aitken (Cadillac), Kamui Kobayashi, Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, Nyck de Vries (Toyota), André Lotterer (Genesis), Stoffel Vandoorne, Paul di Resta (Peugeot), Antonio Giovinazzi (Ferrari), Robert Kubica (AF Corse) and obviously, Kevin Magnussen (BMW) in Hypercar. In LMP2, Pietro Fittipaldi (Vector Sport) is entered for this 94th edition.

With Jenson Button's retirement at the end of last year, no former Formula 1 world champion is currently on the grid. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see one return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the near future, as has been suggested. Max Verstappen et Fernando Alonsowho has also already won the race twice, in 2018 and 2019. Sebastian Vettel, which, despite a rapprochement with Porsche, who has chosen not to yet embark on endurance racing, would also be involved.
