The two forty-year-olds now share something in common. Winners of the 24H of Le Mans as well as a Grand Prix of Formula 1, Robert Kubica and Fernando Alonso enter a select group of drivers who have achieved success in both categories. Among the other illustrious drivers they join are Graham Hill, Didier Pironi and Jacky Ickx. However, the Pole and the Spaniard are the only two to have achieved this feat in the 21st century, thus creating an even closer dynasty.

In this regard, Robert Kubica wanted to respond to his counterpart, whom he knew well in Formula 1. "Hi Fernando, thanks for your message! Now I'm joining your club. Obviously, I didn't win a World Championship, but I probably won the hardest 24 Hours of Le Mans to win, with the most Hypercars competing, he then launches. Anyway, maybe one day we can ride together again!”

Alonso in another dimension

Despite the debate that the recent winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside AF Corse seems to lightly instigate, Fernando Alonso has indeed enjoyed one of the most illustrious careers of the century. Amassing 20 Formula 1 seasons, 371 Grands Prix, 32 victories and 22 pole positions, the man nicknamed the Bull of Asturias won two championship titles in 2005 and 2006.

Furthermore, the current pilot Aston Martin won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice with Toyota, at the heart of the period when the Japanese manufacturer seemed inevitable in the discipline, in 2018 and 2019. Winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, but also of the world championship of WEC, Fernando Alonso had notably been encouraged to potentially participate again in the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside a certain… Max Verstappen, also tempted by adventure.
