Our new format, the Weekly Question, returns for a fourth episode. As a reminder, each week, you'll have the opportunity to answer a question about an event that took place the previous weekend or that could take place next weekend. F1, MotoGP, Rally, Endurance, Indycar, GT… All disciplines will be there. This Wednesday, there is still time to come back to the 24H of Le Mans 2025, which took place last weekend.

Thus, the 93rd edition of the classic Le Mans race was won by the AF Corse No. 83, driven by Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson. Ferrari preceded the Porsche Penske n°6 of the Estre-Vanthoor-Campbell trio and the official Ferrari n°51 of Pier Guidi-Giovinazzi-Calado.

The Scuderia, which won for the third consecutive year with a third different car, quickly killed the suspense and disgusted its rivals, even though the #6 Porsche tried everything to come back at the end of the race. The #12 Cadillac, which started from pole position and finished fifth, finally took fourth place following the disqualification of the #50 Ferrari. Indeed, as a reminder, two irregularities concerning the rear wing were noted during post-race technical checks. This is the Toyota No. 7 which completed the top 5.

24 Hours of Le Mans: the subject of the fourth Weekly Question

On the other hand, lacking rhythm, especially during the first hours, the two Alpine No. 35 and No. 36 finally took 9th and 10th places in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, ahead of the first Peugeot , number 94. For their first double clock tour of Sarthe, the two Aston Martin saw the checkered flag, finishing 12th and 14th.

In LMP2, victory was decided in the final hour... and even in the very last quarter of an hour of the race. Neck and neck with Inter Europol Competition, the French team VDS Panis Racing let victory slip away due to a mechanical problem. In LMGT3, the Porsche 911 GT3 R of the Manthey 1st Phorm team won the event for the second year in a row.

After reading the 24h article in AH, I am surprised that the current Ferrari domination bothers you, while Porsche has dominated IMSA for 3 years and you find that normal?? What surprises me is the excellent Alpine at Spa and the Cadillac in testing and in IMSA and then at the 24h nothing more?

I answered no, a lamentable BOP, too favorable to Ferrari, the fact that the ACO favors the show again and again to the detriment of the race, our 2 French manufacturers put under the extinguisher by the BOP validated by the evil couple ACO/FIA, a bland race where in the end almost nothing happened, and, a special dedication (I was there on Thursday) to the so-called commentators on the circuit, lamentably incompetent, uneducated (in motor sport, particularly in WEC it is the height of irony!)

Any edition of Le Mans is beautiful, it remains a unique race... but!! It seems that the 83 had gearbox problems throughout the race. And despite Kubica's immense quality, driving so much, without sleeping for more than 30 hours, with a handicap, without having a drop in performance raises questions. Especially since the 83 spent 45 minutes in the pits compared to 42 minutes for the Porsche 6 (nearly a lap difference) I am not anti-Ferrari, but if the Ferrari has so much under its foot to win by managing, despite all that, it is quite worrying in terms of gap for the day when everything will go smoothly... Frustration is everywhere: competitors, spectators, etc...

It is a shame to have such an unbalanced BOP because it is not understood by the public and can we say that Ferrari would be at an advantage?

An intense edition because Toyota, Porsche and Ferrari could have won in the end, that is 8 cars! So even if I am very frustrated by the lack of performance of our French cars, this edition has, in my opinion, kept its promises. The fact that Ferrari hides its game so much during the tests and the qualifications raises a real problem with the current BOP, which works (given the performances of the 3 best manufacturers) but in a very heterogeneous way when we see the Alpine or Peugeot despite the work done by their respective teams.
