Vincent Vosse and BMW “delighted by this Hyperpole”

The checkered flag had barely been crossed when the WRT team boss savored the fine result of the two BMW Hypercars: on Saturday, the 15 will start from the 2nd row thanks to its 4th time in Hyperpole while the 20 will start just behind after achieving the 6th time in the fresh. An overall performance superior to Ferrari, Alpine and Toyota in particular. Vincent Vosse also highlighted the excellent performance of Valentino Rossi, whose LMGT3 will start from 3rd position in its category.

The WRT team contributed to the evening spectacle at the Hyperpole this Thursday. Chronologically, it was the 46 that got the proceedings underway thanks to Kelvin Van Der Linde. Then the former star of the MotoGP took the helm to finish the job: "I think it was a good idea to put them in that order in the car.", Vosse emphasized. « Rossi did a very good job. The proof is this 3rd time in the category. It is also important to remember that Vale is a Silver driver and that he is competing against professionals who have been in motorsport for decades.

And what about Rossi's strategy of letting a few cars pass on the installation lap before going for it? "He came up with this strategy all by himself. What's funny is that he placed himself right behind his old friend Maxime (Martin, who moved to Mercedes, Editor's note). Hats off to Vale who demonstrated that we made the right choice.

Nice group shot in Hypercar

In the BMW LMDh category, Raffaele Marciello attacked the track to put the 15th car in the top ten. In the 20th, this role fell to Robin Frijns. In the final, Dries Vanthoor gave the large crowd still present a first sensation: he returned to the pits on his first lap.

"It was planned," says Vincent Vosse. "Dries started on worn tires. We put new tires on him when he returned to the pits; his car was a little lighter thanks to his first lap. After that, he did the job while respecting the track limits. I don't know why he lost a little time in the first sector, but the other two were brilliant, as he can be. But congratulations also to Sheldon Van Der Linde, who brought the second BMW LMDh car up to 2th position. Frankly, if someone had told me about this result three days ago, I wouldn't have believed it. It's proof that the whole team is on the right track, that the drivers are doing their job. I know teams, some of which represent the interests of manufacturers who have more experience than us at Le Mans, and who can't show such success in testing."

A great satisfaction that does not prevent Vincent Vosse from keeping his feet on the ground. "The race will be something else. The last time BMW won at La Sarthe was 26 years ago. I was starting to lose my hair. I don't want to make any plans for the future. That's why I'm enjoying the moment."
