The curse is lifted. In 2021, Yifei Ye was forced to stop in the final lap of the 24 Hours of Le Mans while he was driving the Oreca 07 of the Belgian WRT team. The Chinese driver was leading the race and was about to win the Sarthe classic for the first time, but a mechanical failure decided otherwise. At the time, he was already partnered with Robert Kubica, his teammate this season at AF Corse along with Phil Hanson.

Fate ultimately had other plans for the Pole and the Chinese, now victorious in the general classification this Sunday, June 15. We've finally completed the last lap! It's great to finish this beautiful story that began with Robert (Kubica) in 2021, Yifei Ye told Eurosport. Three wins in a row for Ferrari, it's truly exceptional. I'm proud of the team, thank you to this stable. I'm living a dream, it's incredible. »

In a twist of fate, the third driver in the disappointed WRT trio, Louis Delétraz, also won his first Le Mans race this Sunday. The Swiss driver won the LMP2 Pro/Am class alongside PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron in the AO by TF Oreca.
